In a interview with the Irish Mirror she told about how amazing the change was in her husband in less than 24 hours.“He had his surgery at 1pm on Monday and 9am Tuesday morning he came into my room and said he felt better immediately.“He looked 10 years younger and was no longer grey or white faced. He looked pink and healthy and just looked amazing.”Hugh was at home with his children when he began to suffer from some severe headaches. He decided to go to his GP to get it seen to, and he was then rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital’s cardiac intensive care unit. After tests it was confirmed by the doctors that Hugh had one black and shriveled kidney and the other kidney was only operating at 18%.Helena said that the doctor has never seen somebody with blood pressure as high as Hugh’s –“The doctor said he had never before seen somebody walk through the door with such high blood pressure and he was waiting for him to have either a heart attack or a stroke.”Hugh struggled for two years but in January 2014 it started to fail and he needed immediate dialysis. “I said to him that if he is still on the list in two years, I will get tested because we have three children and our life ahead of us as a family,” Helena said to the Irish Mirror.Hugh’s condition has dramatically improved since his surgery.“I’m the luckiest man alive and I’m alive because I have the most amazing, selfless, and wonderful woman who gave me hope when there was none and never gave up even when things were stacked against us and it was tough.”Helena added: “The first week afterwards I felt rough but now I am fine – I have no restrictions. “There should be more living donors. Please get tested if you have a loved one in need of a transplant. It is one of the best things you could do.”A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN AS WIFE DONATES KIDNEY TO HUSBAND was last modified: June 8th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:hugh campbellhusband wifekidney donationlast_img read more
