Neville Charges “Charlatan” Boris Johnson

first_imgSick Pay GuaranteedEnter Rent and Mortgage holidays Put a Business Support package in place to protect employment and businesses Make all private health care beds available for free Communicate a clear strategy @BorisJohnson you must act now!– Gary Neville (@ GNev2) March 17, 2020 Gary Neville has charged British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for failing to act against the coronavirus pandemic that affects the entire planet. Johnson, advised by the Scientific adviser to the United Kingdom, Patrick Vallance, recommended not to go to bars, pubs and theaters to avoid infections, but these measures are not enough for the former player of the Manchester United, who does not understand how he still has to take his children to school, since the schools are still open: “This is about safety. By the way, don’t go to restaurants, bars and theaters, but take your children to school.”That was the first of many tweets in which the former English soccer player complained about the measures taken, calling Johnson a charlatan: “Anyway, he’s going to close the schools in a few days. He’s a quack!” Neville calls for the British government to get down to work and offer guaranteed health benefits, extend rents and mortgages, put a business support package to protect jobs and businesses, make all private healthcare facilities available free beds and communicate a clear strategy: “Boris Johnson, you must act now!”center_img I hear what you’re saying but all our kids are being told to go to school tomorrow and I’ve just witnessed the St Patrick’s day parade as I drove through Manchester! Never seen such conflicting news: reports! No leadership at all in this country @BorisJohnson https://t.co/1jgmoUx8Pz– Gary Neville (@ GNev2) March 15, 2020Finally and responding to the former president of the U.S, Barack Obama, the former player and commentator again charged against the Prime Minister: “I understand what you are saying but all of our children have been told to go to school tomorrow and I just witnessed the St. Patrick’s Day parade as I drove to Manchester. I have never seen such conflicting news. Reports! There is no leadership in this country”.last_img read more

first_imgMore support for FIFA candidate InfantinoGENEVA (AP):Gianni Infantino is having the best week of any FIFA presidential candidate for public pledges of support to succeed Sepp Blatter, and got South America on his side on Thursday. The 10-nation body known as CONMEBOL said in a statement that its executive committee agreed to give the UEFA general secretaryunanimous support in the February 26 election. On Monday, Infantino was backed by the seven federations from Central America, and Trinidad and Tobago also endorsed him on Thursday despite mistakenly referring in its video message to him as “Giovanni” Infantino.Infantino can count on a big majority of the 53 members in Europe – already giving him more than 70 of the 209 FIFA votes if public promises hold up in the polling booths in Zurich.A two-thirds majority of eligible voters is required to win in the first round, and a simple majority will clinch the presidency in subsequent rounds.English FA boss leaving over reformsLONDON (AP):The English Football Association chairman, who set the national team a target of winning the World Cup by 2022, is leaving in July.Greg Dyke announced yesterday that he will not stand for re-election this year because of friction which he expects will result from attempts to modernise the FA’s decision-making structures.”I had already decided that if no reform was possible, I was going to leave anyway this summer, a position I had shared with a number of colleagues,” Dyke said. “What I now see is that even if we get the reform through, which will be a difficult and divisive process, although essential, I am probably not the best person to pick up the pieces following the inevitable discord.”Since arriving at the FA in 2013, the former BBC director general has been trying to ensure that England has a pool of players capable of turning England into World Cup winners for the first time since 1966.Dyke has also been a leading critic of Sepp Blatter at FIFA.Sri Lanka recall FernandoCOLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP):Fast bowler Dilhara Fernando has been surprisingly recalled by Sri Lanka after more than three years out, for three Twenty20 matches against India next month, Sri Lanka Cricket said yesterday. The 36-year-old Fernando last played for Sri Lanka in July 2012.Sri Lanka Cricket says Dinesh Chandimal will lead the team as Lasith Malinga is out injured.Seniors Angelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekara, Rangana Herath, and seam bowler Nuwan Pradeep will also miss the series due to injuries. The series, preparation for the World Twenty20 which will also be held in India, begins on February 9 in Pune.Squad: Dinesh Chandimal (captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Seekuge Prasanna, Milinda Siriwardana, Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Thisara Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Asela Gunaratne, Chamara Kapugedera, Dushmantha Chameera, Dilhara Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Binura Fernando, Sachithra Senanayake and Jeffrey Vandersay.last_img read more

Transfer boost! Liverpool and Man City target could leave Barcelona this summer

first_img Marc-Andre ter Stegen 1 Liverpool and Manchester City have been put on high alert after it emerged that Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen could leave this summer.According to German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the 24-year-old held talks with Barca this week to discuss his status at the club.Ter Stegen arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach two years ago but he has so far played just seven times in the league for the Spanish side.Claudio Bravo is Luis Enrique’s first-choice keeper and it has been reported that Ter Stegen is growing frustrated at a lack of first-team action. Both City and Liverpool have been linked with the Germany international, and they have been boosted by the news that he may be ready to move on.However, he will not come cheap. Ter Stegen is under contract until 2019 and it has been suggested that Barca will only sell should someone meet his £67m release clause.last_img

Reports claim Antoine Griezmann has just made Manchester United very happy

first_imgAntoine Griezmann has told Atletico Madrid he wants to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer, according to reports. The Spanish press claim Griezmann has made it clear he wishes to depart Atleti after three seasons with Diego Simeone’s side. The 26-year-old, who scored 16 LaLiga goals this season, has been heavily linked with a transfer to Premier League side Manchester United in recent months.Reports suggested a move would be on the cards as long as the Red Devils secured Champions League qualification, which they did by beating Ajax in the Europa League final. In reaction to those reports, Griezmann released a statement on social media website Twitter to claim ‘all the rumours are unfounded’ – downplaying the chances of a transfer. However, it appears a move is now likely, with the France forward asking to leave Atleti following the end of the Spanish football season. 1 Antoine Griezmann in training with the France national team last_img

DAUGHTER’S ANGRY OPEN LETTER TO MINISTER FOR HEALTH

first_imgDear Minister Reilly,My name is Una Farren, I’m from Culdaff Inishowen Co.Donegal.I was reading the article about proposed cuts in the Budget in the Irish Independent, on 23rd November 2011. To say I’m utterly disgusted is an understatement…..Just where do you plan to put the elderly people that are living, very happily I might add, in these Nursing Homes that you plan to close? My mother is 69, has severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, cannot even blow her own nose, has gone blind from effects of R.A.and up until last year I was her carer for the last 10 years. Having developed R.A. myself 7 years ago and along with thE constant heavy lifting and other matters in my private life, our Public Health Nurse got my mother admitted into our localCommunity Hospital in an emergency so I could have a rest for a week. Then after coming home again my mother was fine for about a week then started going downhill again and developed a cough and as she has Arthritis in her lungs I called the doctor to come out to the house as it was just too much to take her to the surgery, the doctor came down and immediately rang for an ambulance and my mother was taken up to Letterkenny Hospital to be checked out as she was on certain tablets etc… After seeing my mother the nurse’s in Letterkenny asked us who was caring for her, I told them I was and they said she neededfull time medical care and rang our local Community Hospital and were told they had a bed the next day so we took my mother home that night and up the next day. After that I was talking to my Public Health Nurse and she told me I was about a month away from having a mental breakdown so I was so relieved to realise that my back wasn’t going to break after all and that I didn’t need to be in the house constantly as my mother needed an eye drop every hour for the last year and a half I cared for my mother. So in having people in Nursing Homes is taking the load off the people left to care for them, some elderly people (like my mother) need to be around constant medical care as she is always getting a flare up so what do you intend to do for people like her ?So in order to save money your thinking of closing Nursing Homes….so what about all these ridiculous enormous pensions all these ex-ministers are getting? For example Brian Cowen is getting €150,000 a year and as he’s only 51 he’ll get this for years to come and what did he do for us ? Well let’s see he was Minister of Health about 10 years ago..oh yeah that’s the time my mother spent a year in a wheelchair because she was waiting for a knee operation. Then he was Minister for Finance ..oh yeah that’s when he handed out too much money every year in the budget and ended up nearly bankrupting our country and THEN he gets voted into the Taoiseach’s job and turns out to be the most hated Taoiseach EVER, yeah and he’s getting ,€150,000 a year that’s so fair..Then there’s Bertie Ahern, who’s getting €152,331 a year for also bankrupting the country and giving the property developers lots of tax breaks so they could keep on throwing up houses and flats and making lots of money. Then there’s Mary Harney, who’s getting €129,805 a year for being completely useless, introducing the HSE who are just a crowd of suits who don’t give a toss about the sick, wrecked the health system and went on fancy trips at the tax payers expense to get her hair done. Why are these people being paid these extravagant amount of money when the elderly are being tossed out of places they love just to save a few euro for the government ?? Are you going to line up the elderly and shoot them when they reach a certain age because what else are you going to do?I bet you there’s not one person in government at the moment that has an elderly relative in a Nursing Home in fear of being closed or in one of the many Community Hospital’s around the country that are being threatened with closure by the wonderful HSE.We voted Fine Gael in the last General Election because we thought it would be a new start but from what I see so far you are not much better than Fianna Fail.Una Farren.DAUGHTER’S ANGRY OPEN LETTER TO MINISTER FOR HEALTH was last modified: January 12th, 2012 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:culdaffInishowenMInister for Health James ReillyUna Farrenlast_img read more

MOUNTAIN TEAM WHO CONQUERED EVEREST CELEBRATE 20TH ANNIVERSARY AT GARTAN

first_imgThis weekend sees the 20th anniversary reunion of the First Irish Ascent of Everest (and the first British ascent via the North Ridge), taking place at Gartan Outdoor Education Centre.Dason StelfoxTwenty years ago, on Thursday 27th May 1993, Dawson Stelfox, expedition leader, climbing with the unflagging support of the full expedition team and base camp staff, and family and friends at home, arrived at the summit during a brief window of good weather. All expedition members, except Richard O’Neill-Dean, now living in New Zealand, will be at Gartan, along with base camp managers, expedition doctors, support trekkers, families and friends. Robbie Fenlon, climbing team member who was a mountaineering instructor at Gartan at the time of the expedition, will be returning for the event. Also attending is Lorna Siggins, Irish Times reporter who, without the benefit of internet and mobile communication, reported regularly to an anxious audience at home.Lorna’s book on the expedition, Everest Calling – Ascent of the Dark Side: The Mallory-Irvine Ridge, has recently been updated by both Lorna and expedition climber Dermot Somers. Everest Calling – The Irish Journey recalls this ground breaking success, and chronicles the many Irish achievements since. The expedition members, and Gartan Director and President of Mountaineering Ireland, Ursula MacPherson, also extend their congratulations to Letterkenny man Jason Black on his achievement in successfully reaching the summit of Everest, via the North Ridge, earlier this week. Ursula also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Namgyal Sherpa, who she climbed with on Shishapangma, an 8,000 metre peak in Tibet. Namgyal died last week on the summit ridge of Everest, while descending from his 10th summit.A champion of protecting the Himalayan environment, a first class climber and guide for many seeking to achieve their dreams on Everest, Namgyal was a highly respected member of the Sherpa and climbing community. His death again emphasizes the commitment and risks that Sherpas make in supporting climbers of all nationalities, without which most modern day ascents would not be possible. Rest in Peace Namgyal. MOUNTAIN TEAM WHO CONQUERED EVEREST CELEBRATE 20TH ANNIVERSARY AT GARTAN was last modified: May 24th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
